Trying something different this week.
I found this graphic on the web and wanted to share it with you. If it’s too small click on it and zoom in.
My interpretation:
This concept of the gap is true for anyone that does creative work. Whether it’s dancing, painting, making music, writing, or anything else.
Closing this gap might take a life time. If you are ever able to close it.
As you get better at something your taste also evolves. What you perceived as amazing a few months ago might not excite you that much anymore today.
Your taste might even grow exponentially while your skill only does linear.
So what can you do about that?
Fall in love with the process.
To me that means going to classes, watching others dance, getting feedback on my dancing, listening to the music, making new dance friends and so much more.
That process will look different for you but you get my point: The process is the one constant that is always there.
Embrace it.
To falling in love with the process,
Yann

Yes, so true! Good to have a word for that feeling ;-) Also: try to just enjoy the dance and not always focus on improving. There is a time for work and a time for play!
